Second True Children's Home Scheduled to Open in September |
| |
|
| |
| It is estimated that there are approximately 2 million orphans in 3,000 orphanages in
China. At True Children's Home we want to help make a difference in the lives of more
orphans by opening our second True Children's Home in September. The new children's
home will be located in the same apartment complex as our present children's home and
will be able to provide care for at least 10 more children. |

| Medical Care Program |
| |
| Our Medical Care Program is divided into two categories: Basic Medical Care and
Surgeries. All medical care in China is provided in a hospital or clinic. There are no doctor
offices. Through our Basic Medical Care Program children receive immunizations, medical
checks and hospitalizations. Between the ages of birth and 24 months, 16 immunizations are
required. A child will have a medical check when they first arrive at TCH, when they are sick
with a cold, cough or fever, after having surgery, and when preparing for an international
adoption. When a child is too sick they are admitted to the hospital. One day last month four
children were sick and taken to the hospital for medical checks. Three were eventually
diagnosed with pneumonia and had to be admitted to the hospital. That was quite a day! |

| Foster Care Program |
| |
| On July 19, 2007, we celebrated Cao's third birthday and on August 2, 2007, we celebrated
Cai's first birthday. Foster children, foster mothers, foster siblings and staff from TCH joined in
the celebrations. |

|
| |
|
| |
| There are many people working together to make a difference in the lives of children that come to TCH. Each month we will spotlight one of those individuals as our True Hero. |
| |
|
| |
| Stitches From The Heart, a group of 10 women from Foothills Baptist Church in Phoenix,
Arizona, have been making quilts for children at TCH since we opened our doors. The brightly
colored and warm quilts are used by the children while living at TCH and are also given to a
child when they are adopted. Thank you Stitches From The Heart for making a difference in
the lives of children that come to TCH. You are a True Hero. |

| Ping was born December 12, 2005, with a cleft lip/palate and was one of the first two children
that arrived at TCH on February 10, 2006, from an orphanage in Jiangxi Province. For the
next 17 months Ping received care at TCH, had successful cleft lip/palate surgery and then
transitioned into foster care while waiting to be adopted. Ping's adoption day finally arrived on
Sunday, August 12. |
| |
|
| |
| From looking at Ping's face the transition was somewhat difficult for him. Ping's adoptive
mother seemed to take Ping's tears in stride and expressed that she knew Ping was well loved
and cared for while in our care. We look forward to receiving an update on Ping and his new
family living in the U.S. |
