In celebration of International Children’s Day, the staff from one of the orphanages came to visit children

The resiliency of our children continues to teach and amaze us. In
a special news blast, we reported that Zi Wen, who was born prematurely, was on life support at a local hospital.
Zi Wen was not responding to treatments for her underdeveloped lungs and the doctors felt that, having
exhausted all treatment options, it would be best to take her off of the breathing machine. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
In June, in the presence of medical professionals and a caregiver from China Little Flower, the life support
machine was turned off. Against all odds, Zi Wen started breathing on her own. In the past few weeks she has
improved so much that she has returned to the Anji Children’s Home where she is receiving a special nutritional
formula to help her grow stronger. |

There are many people working together to make a difference in the lives of children that come to TCH.
Each month we will spotlight one of those individuals as our True Hero. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
June’s True Hero is truly a humble man working behind the scenes. Mr. Zhong has been a contractor in the
decorating and remodeling business in Dongguan for 15 years, providing top quality work. From the beginning,
he was the primary decorator and remodeler of the two Dongguan homes. It is impossible to enter either
of the homes without noticing the bright and cheery surroundings. Mr. Zhong has been the “go-to” guy
for any modifications or repairs that have been needed including cabinetry, water heaters, painting, window
treatments, doors, screens, changing tables and HVAC . Even though Mr. Zhong is always ready to answer the
call for help, he refuses to charge for his labor. He says, “When I saw these children, I couldn’t help but be
touched. I should do what I can do to help.” For working humbly and generously behind the scenes to improve
the lives of these children by making their homes safe and bright, Mr. Zhong, we recognize you as a
True Hero! |

Bai Yu Fen (Avery) had surgery in May, to repair the cleft in her gumline and make repairs to her nose. The
surgery went very well and she is home recovering. The doctors have said they don’t think any additional surgeries
will be needed—great news! She is talking a lot now, and really enjoys playing with her brothers and
sisters. |
