Three Years Later... |
|
| It is hard to believe that three years have passed since we welcomed the first two children to our first children’s home in
Dongguan. Those two children are now growing and thriving with their adoptive families in Holland and the U.S. We
enjoy receiving updates and pictures of all children that have received care at TCH. |
| |
| To each of you who have donated time, supplies and funds—thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of
children through TCH. |

Children From Anji Home Transition to Dongguan |
| |
| TCH has felt the downturn in the global economy like many individuals, families, businesses and organizations and for
the past several months we have seen a decrease in monetary donations. So, we have transitioned all the children from
Anji TCH to the Dongguan TCH. Unfortunately, during these challenging times, we have seen an increase in the number
of children waiting to come to TCH. |

the children to work on their social skills and a good time for the foster parents to socialize. |

| Student, Zachary Pau, heard about the children at TCH through his school, Renaissance College, class 8.1 in Hong
Kong. He decided that he wanted to make a difference. Zachary offered to do translations in Chinese for the TCH website.
He also decided to utilize his love for swimming to raise funds to help the children by having friends and family
sponsor him in a 1250m swim event. Zachary raised over $4000 HKD to sponsor the home care of Xie Zhen. |

Maddie (Ai Pian) |
Max ( ) |

The adjustment has gone so well and Maddie is
so tenderhearted and loving. We know she was
nurtured and loved. I can tell Maddie’s foster
mother was so good and loving to Maddie. |
Max continues to do well. He had his six month check-up with
the cleft team today and I wanted to tell you that they are so
pleased with Max, his previous surgeries and his progress. The
doctor commented on how beautiful his lip and palate were repaired.
Max has no hearing or speech problems, and is one
talkative, happy and sociable little guy. |

Storie (Hai Hu)
Hi,
I thought it would be nice to send you an update on Storie (Hai Hu) since
it has now been three months since we have been home with her.
Storie is such a pleasant toddler! She always has a warm smile on her
face and giant hugs and kisses readily available. She loves life and it is
apparent in her attitude. She loves to sing and dance, as well as mimic
any exercise moves she sees. She is content to sit and play with toys
along but also loves to play with her big sisters. I often describe her as
“rolling with the punches” or “going with the flow.” We can put her in any
situation and she can find a way to entertain herself and often times
those around her. |
|
|
| |
| Storie has a few things that make her the happiest...eating, her blankie (the small washcloth she had on Gotcha Day),
bath time, and her sister Sydney! Anyone who spends much time with Storie comments on how much she can eat! She
is such a tiny thing but boy can she put away the food! When she knows it is time to eat she starts jumping up and down
shouting “yeah, yeah, yeah!” But watch out if you don’t get the food ready quick enough, as she will make it known her
displeasure with having to wait. |
| |
| Storie also loves to take a bath! The first few days we had her in China she wanted nothing to do with bath time. After
about a week she decided the tub was great fund and has loved it ever since. When she hears the bath water she
comes running into the bathroom and starts ripping her clothes and diaper off. Once again, she will stand by the tub,
jump up and down and yell, “yeah, yeah, yeah!” She would stay in the tub all day long if we would let her. |
| |
| We want to thank you and the staff at TCH for the wonderful care you provided our precious daughter while she was
there! We truly believe that the medical care as well as the nurturing that she received was top notch. Having adopted a
child who spent the first nine months of her life in an orphanage and then adopting Storie who was fortunate to be at
TCH and then with foster parents, the differences are staggering. Storie adapted very quickly and is very advanced for
her age. We are amazed at the difference that TCH and being with foster parents made. So thank you from the bottom
of our hearts for the excellent care you provided Storie! |
| |
| Sincerely, |
| |
| Storie and her family |

Matthan (Jin Ping)
|
| |
I just wanted to let you know how Matthan was doing. He is
now 3 years old!! We can’t believe how fast time has flown by.
He is doing really well. Growing like a weed and still weights
about 29 lbs. Everyone is so pleased with how he is doing
developmentally. His language skills are just about on target
for his age and in comparison to non-cleft children! Just a few
letters for articulation need work but overall...he is one sharp
cookie! |

have a referral for, a child who spent time at TCH. We hope to grow into a positive, supportive community that will foster
relationships with the families of TCH’s “brothers and sisters,” while discussing travel, continuing medical care at home
and general China adoption topics. We would also like to find ways to help TCH with fundraising. If you have a picture
of your child on a “boppy pillow”, your child might be a TCH alumni! |
