True Hero |
| |
There are many people working together to make a difference in the lives of children that come to TCH. Each month we will spotlight one of those individuals as our True Hero. |

When Paul Simons, President of Mayline Company, came to Dongguan, China on a business trip in March 2007, he decided to take time to visit True Children’s Home. After returning to the U.S. Paul published the following article in his monthly newsletter.
“After visiting True Children’s Home and spending time with the kids, there are really not words to describe the good work being done. That is why I am asking for your help. In the 15 years I have written this letter, I have never reached out to ask for your consideration in making a donation. We are all asked to consider making donations to any number of worthwhile organizations. While we know our contributions go towards a good cause, it is virtually impossible to see the actual impact the dollars we give have made. This is not the case in this instance. So I am putting the bite on you. I would like our goal to be to fund one year’s worth of medical treatment for 40 children. For as little as $800.00, you will be able to see the results of your giving and truly change a child’s life forever.” |
| |
| |
Through Paul’s efforts more than $16,000 in donations have been received for our Medical Care Program from principles, business associates and individuals. |

Paul returned to Dongguan in September 2007 and met Chi, one of the many children whose medical care will be funded through the efforts of Paul. Thank you Paul and all who responded to Paul’s newsletter. You are a True Hero! |

Update on Ping |
| |
____________________________________________________________________________________________________ |

| |
My name is Rachel Runswick. My husband, Jeff, and I adopted Ping on August 13. Everyone has gotten settled in and we wanted to share with you how Ping is doing. |
| |
| In choosing a name for Ping we wanted to keep his Chinese name as well as incorporate an American name. His American name was quite easy for us since we wanted a name that would have a meaning to reflect Ping joining our family. “Matthan” is the name we chose. Matthan (a derivative of Matthew) is a biblical name meaning “gift” and it ends in “An.” We were told that Jin Ping means “golden city.” Therefore, with all the names together…they mean “Gift from the Golden City” – Matthan Jin Ping Runswick. His name truly reflects his role in our new family – a true gift! |
| |
As you can tell from our picture in last month’s newsletter, the first day was a little rough. By the third day, Ping began to smile and every day
since then his personality continues to shine through. He seems to have adjusted really well and it is so obvious to everyone that meets him that he was well cared for and given much love and attention. Ping’s development is right on target and when people ask how long he has been a part of our family they are surprised at how well he is doing and that it has been just a short while. That’s when I brag about True Children’s Home and his foster family. I tear up when I start to talk about the photo album we were given, the hair from his first hair cut and the quilt. Even as I type these words tears come to my eyes. These are things so precious to us and I know that Matthan will love them as he gets older. We look at the pictures almost daily and he grins at every turn of the page |
| |
| |
Please share with your staff that he is sleeping and eating VERY well, still likes to get into things and his favorite activities so far are playing outside and taking a bath. His giggle is the sweetest sound and he still loves to give hugs and kisses.
Thank you so much for everything you have given our family. Matthan is a pure delight and each day surprises us with something new. We wish you all the very best and are pleased that a second home has opened. We look forward to coming back to China with Matthan and visiting True Children’s Home.
Sincerely,
Jeff and Rachel Runswick
