Ai Dao does not have eyes to see. He sees the world through sound, smell, touch, and taste. Ai Dao was born February 22, 2006 with a bulging left eyeball and no right eyeball. Because Ai Dao could not see out of his left eye and because it was filled with painful infection, the eyeball was removed. He repeats songs after hearing them twice. He can recognize a person by hearing their voice, smelling them, or touching their nose. He is a great listener. He mimics everything he hears. Ai Dao draws people with his smile and his beautiful little voice. He will sing a few words of a catchy song and wait for someone to finish the verse. He then starts again with the next verse. When he finishes a song, Ai Dao's fingers and toes wiggle and his head bobs back and forth. He then shouts "Xie Xie Ai Dao (Thank you Ai Dao)" with a big grin on his face. When Ai Dao arrived at True Children's Home, he could barely sit up by himself. After a year of love and encouragement from TCH staff, Ai Dao can now walk with help from his caregivers. He can stand by himself. Ai Dao attends Dongcheng Disabled Children's Preschool Education Center in Dongcheng Dongguan. Our wish is for Ai Dao to find a forever family this year.

Making Progress with Cerebral Palsy
He understands the world around him as well as any other two-year- old. He has words but can not yet use them. His eyes twinkle with recognition when a familiar face enters his training center. A smile of awareness accents his cheeks after overhearing a pleasing conversation. He communicates in smiles, tears, and laughter.
Chen Jing Zhi was born April, 26 2008 with Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy encompasses a group of non-progressive, non-contagious motor conditions which cause physical disabilities in human development. Therapy and training for children with Cerebral Palsy include physical, occupational and speech therapy. Chen Jing Zhi is currently in the second month of his personalized program at Shenzhen Children's Hospital. He is going through a series of physical therapy exercises everyday. The ultimate goal of physical therapy is to teach him to walk on his own. Once he learns to walk on his own, he will begin occupational and speech therapy.
True Children's Home community outreach program has two main goals. The first goal is to improve or save the life of a child. The second is to provide a loving mother and father financial support in order to keep a family together. True Children's Home is working hand-in-hand with Chen Jing Zhi's mother and father providing them the opportunity to help improve the life of their child.

Lilja is from Iceland and has been living in China for 4-1/2 years. When we told Lilja, a Saturday volunteer at True Children's Home, that we had chosen her as our True Hero she was flattered. We asked Lilja to let us know what working with the children has meant to her.
"It's just that I sincerely feel TCH is an amazing and wonderful organization filled with warm, kind and generous people doing great and very important work for these awesome kids. I feel grateful our paths have crossed and that I've been given the opportunity to get involved at TCH. I love coming over on Saturday mornings to TCH enjoying some fun time with the children, it's great."
Lilja, you are a True Hero!

Jennie (Yang Gui)
Hi Jenny and everyone at True Children's Home!!
Just wanted to send a quick e-mail and let you know how things are going. It's been about 1 1/2 months since arriving home, and Jennie (Yang Gui) has settled in beautifully! She is very happy, and makes us laugh everyday with her antics and infectious laugh and smile! She understands English now, and is starting to repeat everything we say, plus says a few things on her own!
We love her very much, and can't imagine life without her. We thank God for bringing us together, and for you and her foster family, for taking such good care of her. Enjoy the pictures, and if possible, send them to her foster family too.
Thanks!
We will keep in touch.
Take care,
Jennie and Family

Dear Friends at True Children's Home,
We have had Liliana in our family for a year now, and we are so thankful God gave us each other. "Li Li's" initial transition was rough as she was so obviously bonded with her foster family, but our relationship with her is feeling more normal now. Li Li is full of spunk and joy, and she talks non-stop. She's incredibly social and well-loved by everyone she meets. She especially adores her big brother Koen. Thank you for giving our daughter a better start to life with the wonderful care and love you provided her. God bless you.
With Love,
Liliana Aili and Family

Marlijne (Yang Nian)

Dear All,
Today, as I am writing this, it has been exactly 5 months ago that Yang Nian was placed in our arms. I remember the look on our daughter's face, observing this new place she was in, looking at the people around her. She was the most beautiful child we ever saw in our lives. I can not describe all the emotions going on inside me and I only could guess how confusing and scary this all must be for this little girl. Our little girl. Yang Nian was not going to accept this new situation without a fight. She is a very strong spirited girl and her tantrums are legendary. I am sure Chinese tourists have told stories back home about the blond big nosed lady with the screaming Chinese baby in the middle of Tiananmen Square. We could tell Yang Nian was loved very much by the caretakers at TCH and by her foster family and we understood how much our girl must be grieving.
Now we are 5 months further and Yang Nian is doing fabulous. She is a smiling little girl, full of energy. She will be turning two years old soon. Her Dutch is improving every day and her pediatrician was impressed with her language and motor skills. The doctors we visited are all very impressed with the medical care she got in China and we are forever grateful to all the people who made that possible.
Yang Nian has made many friends in our neighborhood and is adored by her grandparents. She is the first grandchild in both our families. She loves to play outside and take walks with our dog. We will be going on a seaside vacation soon and we can't wait to see her reaction to that huge sandbox that we like to call the beach.
We want to thank all the staff at TCH and all the generous people who made donations, you all made a positive difference in our daughter's and our lives. A special thanks we like to give to Yang Nian's foster family, we can never thank them enough for loving and caring for Yang Nian.
Best wishes from the Netherlands,
Yang Nian and family

Molly (Yu Xi)

I wanted to give you an update on Molly Mei (YuXi), adopted in 2008. Molly Mei has had 5 surgeries since coming home and is doing wonderful. She is such a blessing to our family. Its amazes me how much I love her and how well she fits in. I couldn't have imagined how well her adjustment was. She has had 2 eye surgeries. That is why she would tip her head. She had double vision in each eye, one being worse than the others. She has had 3 cleft surgeries. One to fix her palate and ear tubes. The second to fix her nose and lip some. Third was to extend her palate and take her tubes out. She will have another in about a year. It amazes me to think she really couldn't see well, her ears were so infected and full of fluid that she couldn't hear well and with her palate open, it was harder to eat. I am so grateful that you were all able to fix her nose so she could at least eat better..
We love her so, so much. She is so funny and we love her personality. She is a ham and loves Cinderella and singing. Thanks so much for being a part of her life.
Sincerely,
Molly and Family
